Chocolate Nation is the world’s largest Belgian chocolate museum and the place to discover the fascinating world of Belgian chocolate.
During an interactive experience lasting about 70 to 90 minutes, you’ll journey from the cocoa plantations around the equator to the Belgian praline. Along the way, you’ll discover how chocolate is made, learn more about the history of Belgian chocolate, meet chocolatiers, and taste different types of chocolate.
Chocolate Nation is much more than a museum. You’ll also find chocolate shops, workshops, event spaces, and the Octave restaurant. This makes Chocolate Nation a unique destination for chocolate lovers, families, groups, schools, and businesses.
Located right across from Antwerp Central Station, Chocolate Nation welcomes thousands of visitors each year from Belgium and abroad who want to discover - and taste - the story behind Belgian chocolate.
Unlike other chocolate museums, Chocolate Nation doesn’t just take you on a journey through the history of chocolate - it focuses specifically on the history of Belgian chocolate.
Don’t expect display cases full of artifacts or long informational signs you have to read. Through fifteen themed rooms, you’ll discover in an interactive way where cacao comes from, how chocolate is made, and which brands, chocolatiers, and pioneers have contributed to the global reputation of Belgian chocolate.
With audiovisual installations, live demonstrations, and audio guides in eight languages, Chocolate Nation appeals to all the senses. And of course, you’ll get to taste chocolate, too. During your visit, you’ll discover no fewer than 10 different flavours of Belgian chocolate and learn where their unique character comes from.
What’s more, your visit doesn’t have to end when the experience is over. Combine Chocolate Nation with a workshop, a visit to our chocolate shop, or a drink, lunch, or sweet treat at our food bar, Octave. You can also enjoy a delicious dinner at our restaurant, Octave.
Chocolate Nation is much more than just a museum: it’s a complete Belgian chocolate experience for everyone, ages 6 to 106.
A visit to Chocolate Nation takes between 70 and 90 minutes on average. You can follow the tour mostly at your own pace, so you decide how much time to spend in each room.
If you want to listen to all the stories, enjoy extensive tastings, take photos, and watch the chocolatiers at work, feel free to stay a little longer. Many visitors also combine their visit with a workshop, a stop at the shop, or lunch or dinner at our restaurant, Octave.
If you’d like to make a day trip out of it, combine your visit to Chocolate Nation with a tour of the beautiful city of Antwerp. Chocolate Nation is located near the city’s most beautiful shopping streets, featuring trendy shops, charming outdoor cafes, and iconic landmarks.
Chocolate Nation tells the story of Belgian chocolate in an accessible and interactive way. Thanks to the audio guides, audiovisual installations, chocolate tastings, and various interactive spaces, visitors of all ages can enjoy the experience.
Children aged 6 and up can easily follow the story and fully enjoy the visit. For younger children, there are plenty of sights, smells, tastes, and interactive elements along the way that spark the imagination.
For workshops, we have a minimum age requirement of 12 years. Younger participants are welcome as long as they are accompanied by an adult who can keep an eye on them.
In short: Chocolate Nation is an outing for everyone, from young chocolate fans to seasoned chocolate lovers.
At the end of the experience, you’ll find yourself in our “Chocolate Heaven,” where you can sample no fewer than ten different types of Belgian chocolate. From creamy milk chocolate to intense dark chocolate: each flavour tells a story about the versatility of Belgian chocolate.

Yes, of course. We’d love for you to share your visit with friends, family, and followers on social media. Taking photos and videos for personal use is therefore permitted. You’re also welcome to tag us in your posts.
However, we do ask that you be considerate of other visitors. Please try not to include them prominently in your photos or videos, as not everyone feels comfortable appearing in photos or videos that are shared online.
Chocolate Nation welcomes visitors from all over the world. That’s why our audio guides are available in no fewer than eight languages: Dutch, French, English, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, and Mandarin Chinese.
During your visit, you’ll receive an audio guide that will take you through the museum’s various rooms.
The audio guide tells the story of Belgian chocolate: from the origins of cacao and the production process to the chocolatiers, brands, and innovations that have made Belgian chocolate world-famous.
You set the pace of your visit yourself, allowing you to listen to the stories that interest you most.
For deaf and hard-of-hearing visitors, an adapted app is available in multiple languages, with text and visual support.
Our audio guides are equipped with an audio jack (3.5 mm) to which visitors can connect their own headphones or a compatible listening device.
