Chocolate Nation combines learning and hands-on experiences in a way that appeals to students. During their visit, they not only discover how chocolate is made, but also where cocoa comes from, which brands and personalities have given Belgian chocolate its rock-solid reputation, and what sustainability challenges the cocoa sector faces today.

Topics such as geography, history, science, technology, nutrition, economics, and sustainability are covered in an accessible way. Thanks to the interactive exhibits, audiovisual installations, and audio guides, students remain actively engaged throughout the visit.

To best prepare for the visit or follow up on it in the classroom, teachers can download our free educational resource pack. For elementary school students, there’s also a presentation kit available, packed with fun facts and background information about Belgian chocolate.

Chocolate Nation is located directly across from Antwerp Central Station, making it easy to organize a school field trip. In addition, NMBS offers special rates for schools.

Chocolate Nation is suitable for students of all ages, but aligns perfectly with the learning objectives for students in grades 4, 5, and 6, as well as the first and second levels of secondary school.

Topics such as geography, history, science, nutrition, international trade, and sustainability are explored in an accessible and interactive way. Thanks to the combination of storytelling, audiovisual installations, chocolate tastings, and audio guides, students remain actively engaged throughout the visit.

Chocolate Nation also offers older students, college students, and those in specific fields of study a wealth of interesting insights into the world of cacao, chocolate production, entrepreneurship, marketing, and sustainability.

Chocolate Nation does not have its own lunch area for school groups.

When the weather is nice, the nearby Flamingo Square at the Zoo is an ideal spot for a group picnic. If the weather isn’t so good, groups can head to Antwerp Central Station, right across from Chocolate Nation, where there are several covered seating areas available.

Thanks to our central location, there are also plenty of options in the immediate vicinity for comfortably organizing a school field trip.

For every 15 paying students, the school receives one free admission for a teacher or chaperone.

Are more chaperones needed? They are, of course, welcome at the applicable group rate.

This way, we ensure that school groups can enjoy their visit to Chocolate Nation comfortably and safely.

School groups can visit the museum with audio guides in eight languages: Dutch, French, English, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, and Mandarin Chinese.

This makes Chocolate Nation suitable not only for Dutch- and French-speaking schools, but also for international schools, language programs, and exchange projects.

In addition, an adapted app with text and visual support is available for deaf and hard-of-hearing visitors.
